Spring 2013...

We are now tweeting news and updates on Twitter @helmsleyarts and our Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/HelmsleyArtsCentre

A BIG THANKS to local businesses Spear Travels and Pennita Fashions, for organising a fashion and cruise night in aid of the arts! The event, which was held at The Feathers Hotel in Helmsley raised £1000 which we will put to good use, developing our programme and supporting local talent with our new North Star series.

A warm welcome to our Spring season!

We continue the sell-out National Theatre Live and our first opera screening, Opera Australia's Madama Butterfly, augments the broad range of works from Bolshoi Ballet Live. These screened performances are dazzling - be sure to book your tickets early.

National names, emerging talent and local stars all feature this season. Theatre audiences will love the charming Farm Boy by Michael Morpurgo, (the sequel to War Horse,) while the clown show Tweedy's Lost Property will delight audiences of all ages. Local theatre group Clap Trap returns with a compelling new courtroom drama by Tom Needham; the ever-popular Michael Lunts brings his celebration of all things British; while the resident 1812 strip down for the unmissable Calendar Girls. Don't miss our Youth Theatre's Canterbury Tales, nor the brilliant photographer Joe Cornish, while local artist Jonathan Pomroy launches his exhibition with a fascinating talk.

Our musical spectrum spans Cello & Piano duo James Barralet and Simon Callaghan, the versatile Hoagy, Hornpipes, Handel and Hoedown, with some top Swingin' Jazz, the choral splendour of New Mill Male Voice Choir and The Chanticleers. Our popular acoustic Uncorked sessions include Radio 4 comedy favourite Kate Fox, astonishing young fiddler Sarah Horn and the uproarious Holy Moly & The Crackers; and we open the Seasonal Kitchen with an evening of Wine and Cheese in the expert company of The Wine Club.

Our Cinema remains as popular as ever - visit out Film page for the latest listings - while Workshops include Indian Dance, 1812 Theatrelab, Mosaic-making and a new Community Choir.
