Piers Paul Read, the third son of Herbert Read, has
written works of fiction, history, biography and reportage, among them Alive. The
Story of the Andes Survivors filmed in 1993. His novels The Upstart and Monk
Dawson, drew on his experiences as a child growing up in Ryedale. A Married Man
and The Free Frenchman were dramatized for television. His most recent works are
The Misogynist, and a history of the Dreyfus Affair.
