The Art of Francis Bacon

Lecturer: Sarah Stopford

Sarah Stopford is a guide and lecturer at Tate Britain and Tate Modern.  She studied art history as part of her first degree at Harvard and took a further degree at Cambridge.

Francis Bacon, acknowledged as amongst among the most powerful painters of the twentieth century, was greeted with shock and horror and can still be difficult to understand and appreciate.

As an artist Bacon sought to express what it was to live in a world without a God or an afterlife. Sarah will enable  us to enter Bacon's vision of the world.
