Guitar Workshops with Henry Parker

Join talented musician and devoted guitarist Henry Parker for acoustic and electric guitar workshops aimed at various levels of experience. Enjoy learning and developing your skills in a relaxed and supportive environment.

Absolute beginners (45mins)


Ages 8-13yrs | 10am

All Ages 14yrs+ | 11am 

A hands-on approach to picking up the guitar for the first time and making great music in your very first session. Become accustomed to holding the guitar, playing with a pick and learning some well-known engaging songs that will set you on your way to becoming a dedicated guitarist.

Beyond the Chords (1 hr 15mins)


Ages 8-13yrs | 12.30pm

All Ages 14yrs+ | 2pm

A workshop for those who have a basic grasp of the guitar but wish to break out of well-worn habits and standard chords. With a focus on creativity, we will explore the whole fret-board using simple shapes, covering a broad range of musical styles, from folk, to jazz, through to pop and rock. Experience in reading music is not required.


Fingerpicking and Alternate Tuning  (1 hr 15mins)


All ages 8yrs+ | 4pm

With diverse artists such as Joni Mitchell, Jimmy Page and The Smiths all having explored the world of open-tunings on some of their most famous records, we take an introductory look at how re-tuning the guitar can open up limitless possibilities for creativity and new sounds. Coupled with simple finger picking ideas we will learn the fundamentals of solo guitar playing for electric or acoustic guitar. Experience in reading music is not required.

Electric guitar - please bring your own instrument, practice amp and lead.

Acoustic guitar - a small number of acoustic guitars will be available to use on the day if you don’t have your own instrument, please email [email protected] if you would like to borrow an acoustic guitar for the workshop.
