As a return to hosting in real life sewing workshops, we thought we'd start with something really special.
This workshop isn't just a way to learn some beautiful hand-sewing techniques, guided by costumier Tabitha Grove and to make a 100% linen dressing robe that's unique to you. It's an opportunity to connect with others in a safe, socially distanced environment, and to meditate on the joy of making something that you know every stitch of.
We'll cut and construct our dressing robes, inspired in part by the kimono, over 5 two hour sessions . No sewing machines whiring, just the sound of snipping, needle stitching, chatting and some very chilled tunes. This isn't about staring, perplexed, at a beeping, grinding sewing machine. It's about being present and patient and making something to truly treasure and be proud of. It's time to start a new realtionship with sewing. You'll learn some new, clever, no waste ways of marking, cutting and making too.
Numbers will be kept low to maintain socially distancing. Equipment and materials will be provided and they won't be shared -they're all yours for the duration.
