About David Harper

David Harper is a BBC TV Art & Antiques presenter on programmes like

‘Antiques Roadtrip’ ‘Flog It’ and ‘Bargain Hunt’.

All highly popular programmes, which are shown in over 50 countries around the world - See Youtube videos page

David fell in love with antiques and history at the age of 5 and he’s been collecting, studying, buying, selling and writing about wonderful objects from the past ever since!

A published writer on the subjects of both antiques and history

His broadcasting career began in 1999 on BBC local radio with his ‘live antiques valuation phone-ins’ and since 2005 he’s been a regular face on BBC Television

David has appeared on numerous celebrity TV shows and after his disastrous attempt at cooking on ‘Celebrity Masterchef’ (he doesn’t cook and never has done) he was described as the worst ever contestant in the history of the programme!

He really shouldn’t have agreed to go on the show, but he did it for the experience (plus the money) and he was very pleased to be the first ejected! The ‘Masterchef’ story is one of many anecdotes he tells from the world of TV in his one-man show / after dinner speach ‘Unexpected Tales’

David is a writer - his fun history for adults book ‘A Romp With The Georgians’ which takes a funny look at British life between 1714 and 1830 has now been turned into another of his one-man theatre stand up shows

His follow up book ‘A Jolly Good Bash With The British Empire’ will be published in 2023

David Harper is also a modernist painter and sculptor - his work is in private and corporate collections around the world, as well as museums, including The Haynes International Motor Museum and The James Herriot Museum. His art has been exhibited and sold alongside work by Damien Hirst, Sir Peter Blake, Henry Moore, Ai Weiwei and Darren Baker. Paintings and sculptures are available to purchase or commission here.

Alongside David Harper’s theatre shows, you can book him as an after dinner speaker, for lunch talks and hosting private events. He’s also one of the best and most sought after charity auctioneers in the world. In fact, he holds the world record for the highest price ever achieved in auction for Sir Alex Ferguson…he sold him for £170,000 at the Natural History Museum!

The Sir Alex story is another you might hear at one of his speaking engagements
