Have you ever wanted to try watercolour, or perhaps you'd simply like to spend a couple of hours painting in a relaxed and creative environment?
In this friendly two-hour workshop, we'll take inspiration from the beautiful colours and open spaces of the North York Moors, exploring how to create a loose and atmospheric landscape in watercolour.
Using a limited palette of rich autumn colours, we'll experiment with wet-into-wet washes, flowing colour and expressive mark-making to suggest distant hills, moorland and big skies without getting caught up in too much detail.
The emphasis is very much on enjoying the process, experimenting and keeping things loose, rather than trying to create a perfect painting. I'll guide you through the process step by step, while encouraging you to make the painting your own.
By the end of the session, you'll have created your own atmospheric moorland watercolour to take home.
