Fields and Lanes - Jessa and Mick Liversidge
Please note this event was broadcast live on Saturday 13th March. Purchasing a ticket now allows you to watch a recording of the livestream.
Since the first lockdown in March 2020, singer Jessa Liversidge and actor Mick Liversidge have taken to performing outside. While Jessa sings in fields, Mick recites poetry down country lanes, and together they have devised "Fields and Lanes", a celebration of poetry and song as well a celebration of the great outdoors.
Classic poems such as “Leisure” and “Daffodils”, as well as lesser-known gems, are included, celebrating poets as wide-ranging as Spike Milligan, Lord Byron, William Wordsworth and D. H. Lawrence. The songs range from folk standards to pop favourites, including The Beatles and Bill Withers, Carole King and Cilla Black. All the poems and songs are performed by Jessa and Mick with no accompaniment - with their sincere and heartfelt delivery, the songs and poems speak for themselves. The evening will also include recorded performances from the particpants of Mick and Jessa's recent singing and poetry workshops and will demonstrate how music and poetry can connect the community through creativity.
Jessa and Mick are delighted to be working with Helmsley Arts Centre on their creative and connected community project, and this performance of Fields and Lanes will include performances by participants from the Fields and Lanes workshops.
