1812 Youth Theatre & Drama Club!

The 1812 Youth Theatre & Drama Club at Helmsley Arts Centre provides young people with the opportunity to explore theatre in a creative, supportive and inspiring environment.

Open to children and young people aged 5–19, the company meets weekly during term time for workshops, rehearsals and productions, helping members develop confidence, creativity and performance skills while building lasting friendships.

Through a varied programme of drama activities, participants gain experience both on stage and behind the scenes, working collaboratively to create high-quality productions. YT 1 & YT 2

1812 Youth Theatre is the perfect place for children  to take their first exciting steps into the wonderful world of theatre. Through imaginative play, creative storytelling, drama games, music, and movement, YT 1 (ages 5-7) & YT 2 (ages 8-10)  discover the joy of performing while developing essential life skills in a fun, supportive environment.

Drama at this age is about so much more than learning lines or being on stage. It encourages children to explore their imaginations, express their ideas and emotions, build confidence, develop communication and teamwork skills, and grow in independence—all through the power of play. Every session is carefully designed to nurture creativity, spark curiosity, and help every child feel valued, included, and confident to shine.

This term, our young performers will work towards an exciting and magical goal: taking to the stage in front of a live audience as part of the much-loved annual 1812 Theatre Company Pantomime. Along the way, they'll experience the excitement of rehearsing, creating characters, making new friends, and discovering the magic of live theatre, all while having plenty of fun and making memories that will last a lifetime.
